Workshops
I spent 8 years teaching about the Greek and Roman world in higher ed. Now, I use my teaching experience as a curriculum designer and consultant to support other educators. I can be a sounding board for lesson planning, or a workshop facilitator on student-centered and community-engaged pedagogy. If you’re looking for collaboration in implementing curriculum changes (or a deluge of information about Cicero and the Roman Republic!), please reach out!
Workshops
Community-engaged learning
Evidence-based techniques for bringing real-world connections or community partnerships into your classroom – or building on what you’re already doing
Active learning
Making your classroom more interactive and engaging, whether you’re teaching online or in person (I talk about some general principles for active lecturing in this post)
Learning objectives
What are they? Why does my dean keep asking about them? We’ll unpack the research (see my post on "The Tyranny of Learning Objectives") and apply it to your courses.
Civic engagement
Connecting your students’ coursework to their civic identity, and empowering them to participate in the public arena in meaningful and constructive ways
Curriculum outside educational institutions
Nonprofits and community orgs do a lot of teaching too – I’ve helped to develop engaging political educationals and trainings in collaboration with leaders that can be used again and again
Student-centered pedagogy
Connecting education research with classroom practice
Deliberative Dialogue & conflict resolution
Teaching touchy subjects and creating a space where students can share perspectives
